DAIKANYAMA
代官山
Daikanyama is known for its shopping and “high-class” image. But what else is there? What stuck out to us was its neighborly feel. Families and couples walking with their dogs every which way. A beautiful park overlooking part of the Tokyo skyline a mere 10 minutes away. A meiji-era house and classic Japanese garden tucked in between boutiques, with modern street art just around the corner. Daikanyama is both old and new, traditional and contemporary. It’s a friendly neighborhood just a stone’s throw from Shibuya.
代官山は「ショッピング」や「上品」というイメージで知名が高い街ですが、それ以外にはなにがあるでしょう？私達が感じたのは近所のような雰囲気でした。家族やカップルが犬を連れて全ての方向に向かって歩いていく。１０分ほど歩けば展望台から中目黒の景色が見渡せる公園も。流行ファッションの店やストリートアートの間には明治時代に建てられれた歴史的建築物も。渋谷のすぐとなりにある素敵な街です。
NAKA-MEGURO
中目黒
Meguro river and cherry blossoms define this area. What we felt however, was that summer greens are just as beautiful along the river walk. Just outside the main area is Nakameguro Park, where we saw a perfect encapsulation of a slice of Tokyo life. People playing basketball, an elderly man walking his elderly pup, young kids playing on the swings with their mothers watching close by, toddlers and daycare teachers taking a stroll, and a few cats laying down and enjoying life. A walk in Nakameguro is the walk of daily life.
この場所の名前を聞いて最初に連想するものは目黒川と桜でしょう。しかし川を沿って歩いてみる夏の緑もまた違う神秘的な美しさが味わえます。少し離れてみると東京での日常生活を覗き実感できる中目黒公園があります。スポーツを遊んでいる若者達や犬の散歩をしているお年寄りの人たち、お母さん達に見守られながらブランコで遊ぶ子供達、赤ちゃんをお散歩に連れてる保育士のお姉さん達、日陰で寝転がり休んでいる猫達。まるで人生の日常生活を歩んでいるかのような感覚が味わえる散歩を中目黒でぜひ体験していただきたい。
JIYUGAOKA
自由が丘
Jiyuugaoka is different. It’s unique. It’s in Tokyo, but it feels like a different city entirely. A French promenade, a venican canal, an 18th-century shrine. The one word that kept coming to mind as we meandered through the streets amid a mid-summer drizzle was “mysterious.” Jiyuugaoka is a mysterious melting-pot, mixing a typical a Japanese neighborhood with a little taste of western spice.
自由が丘は他と比べてただ何かが違う。とてもユニークの雰囲気がする街です。東京にいるはずなのに、まるで全く違う都市にいるような感覚。フランスの街並み、ヴェネチアの運河。この街を梅雨の雨の中散策して思い浮かぶ言葉は「不思議」。自由が丘は日本の街と西洋の風味が混ぜられた不思議なるつぼです。
